ABA Announces New Deposit Compliance Training and Certificate
Wednesday, 07 October 2015

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association (ABA) announced the addition of its new online training curriculum focused on deposit compliance, an 11-course online series available to both members and non-members. The courses can be taken together as a complete curriculum to earn the new ABA Certificate in Deposit Compliance or individually.

“Deposit compliance is an essential yet complex discipline that requires more than one bank employee to be up to speed and on the same page,” said Jim Edrington, executive vice president of ABA’s professional development group. “Bankers who earn this certificate will demonstrate to their managers and bank examiners that they have a thorough grounding in key deposit regulations and the knowhow to guide their bank through exhaustive compliance requirements.”

The program is designed for employees involved in the first line deposit-taking function and also second line compliance oversight. The complete curriculum is self-paced and available on-demand, featuring unlimited access to all course content for 12 months. No other online deposit compliance curriculum offers this feature, which includes all updates on new issuances and regulation changes made within that year.

The estimated time to complete all 11 courses is approximately 12 hours. Course titles include:
•    Anatomy of a Regulation

•    BSA/USA Patriot Act

•    Digital Compliance

•    Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Reg E)

•    Elements of a Compliance Program

•    Expedited Funds Availability Act (Reg CC)

•    Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

•    Privacy/Information Sharing

•    Reserve Requirements for Depository Institutions Act (Reg D)

•    Truth-in-Savings Act (Reg DD)

•    Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP)

These courses are eligible for credits toward maintaining the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification.

The fee for each course is $275 for ABA members and $375 for non-members. This certificate program may also be licensed by banks for multiple learners.
