Ukash expands in Australia with the Touch network Print E-mail
Monday, 02 June 2014

London, 2nd June 2014 – Leading global online cash payment provider Ukash, continues its expansion into key global markets with the launch of a new partnership with the Touch network in Australia. The agreement means Ukash voucher codes will be available from Touch’s network of 10,000 chain and independent merchants - giving Australian shoppers access to safe online payments without the need for a bank account or credit card.

Established in 1999, Touch has developed a range of transaction systems to support the banking, retail, telecommunications and government sectors across Europe and in Asia Pacific.  It has established a strong network of outlets for its point of sale terminals in Australia, enabling consumers to purchase a wide range of electronic products.  By adding the availability of Ukash voucher codes from its terminals, Touch founder, Keith Cleeve, believes merchants will see an increase in footfall throughout their stores.

“A growing number of consumers are looking to shop, pay and play online safely, and Ukash allows merchants with Touch-enabled EFTPOS or POS systems to capitalise on that opportunity”, said Keith Cleeve.  “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Ukash in providing this safe and convenient payment option as it breaks down barriers to social and financial inclusion.”

Ukash enables consumers to use cash to pay safely and conveniently online by exchanging notes and coins for a unique 19 digit code. Available for use across a variety of sectors, including shopping, gift cards, games, poker and bingo, Ukash is used to pay directly on thousands of websites worldwide.

“Touch has a range of clients and a strong point of sale networks across 12 countries in Asia Pacific and Europe making it a key partner for us”, added James Allum, Chief Commercial Officer, Ukash.  “With payment points across Australia, the partnership with Touch means Australian consumers can more easily access Ukash vouchers in a range of neighbourhood stores.  And this means, for those who can’t access conventional credit or debit accounts or don’t want to share their financial details on the web, they can still participate in the online world.

“The demand we already have for access to Ukash in Australia also means that we will be giving merchants with Touch terminals a new audience of customers coming into their stores.”
