Equifax and iovation provide European CRAs insight into emerging innovations to tackle online fraud Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 May 2014
London, 29th May 2014 - Equifax, the leading consumer insights and identity fraud expert, and  iovation, the trusted source for mobile and online fraud prevention, are jointly presenting a series of workshops at the Association of Consumer Credit Information Suppliers (ACCIS) Annual Conference in Bucharest – 4th-6th June 2014. Senior representatives from the ACCIS membership of 39 credit reference agencies (CRAs) from 27 European countries will be given an insight into the latest innovations being developed to tackle the fraud threats for e-commerce businesses, including identity theft and account takeover.

The combined expertise of Equifax and iovation is proving to be a crucial game-changer for consumers and businesses, as it enables real-time fraud prevention at both the individual and device levels — the latter detecting the credibility of the mobile and traditional Internet-enabled devices from which a transaction is originating.  The UK’s leading ID verification and authentication solution, Equifax Identity Verifier, and ReputationManager 360 from iovation, are helping businesses thwart real-time fraud by analysing not only the individual, but also the device itself, including its online history, anomalies and associations to other fraudulent devices. The result is a comprehensive, multi-layered set of checks carried out at high-risk points of customer interaction, such as log-in, purchase, or account maintenance.

“Businesses operating online right across the consumer marketplace are experiencing unprecedented challenges in balancing customer expectations for quick and easy transactions against the security of their processes,” explained John Marsden, Identity and Fraud expert at Equifax. “This is especially relevant as organisations face increasing threats from cyber fraud.”

“We believe our collaboration with iovation tackles these challenges by enhancing authentication processes,” continued John Marsden. “By being able to identify all the devices a customer is using for online transactions, including the reputation of each device – has it or an associated device been used for fraudulent transactions previously – businesses can deliver a positive customer experience for genuine consumers, whilst increasing intervention where risks are identified.”

“We are looking forward to sharing our insight and knowledge with representatives from all of Europe’s main credit reference agencies at the ACCIS conference,” added Chris Thomas, iovation Director of Business Development, Northern and Eastern Europe. “We know online fraud prevention is a developing concern for their customers.”
