Creditsafe hosts international knockout charity fundraiser Print E-mail
Thursday, 20 March 2014

Creditsafe today announced it is hosting an international white collar boxing event to raise money for charity LATCH Wales, which supports families where a child is receiving treatment for cancer or Leukaemia, and Arthur’s Gym, a community boxing centre in Pontypridd operated by former Commonwealth champion Jamie Arthur.  The event will see 28 contenders from nine different countries slug it out at the ‘Swapping Suits for Boxing Boots’ boxing event.

The sell-out event will take place at Oceana Cardiff on Friday 21st March. The headline bout of the evening will see Creditsafe’s Chief Executive Officer, Cato Syversen, take on Mike Richards, sales manager of Creditsafe’s German operation.  For the first time, women boxers will enter the fray, with UK CRM executive Jordan Shallish squaring up to Swedish sales & marketing executive Sanna Stenborg and UK sales executive Lauren Jones facing French business development executive Audrey Pidoux.

In a world full of corporate away days and team building exercises, Cato has a refreshing and unique way of managing his team. From taking all of the company’s 500 employees from around Europe on an all-expenses-paid working trip to Majorca, to organising international boxing fights, the commitment to staff engagement is second to none. This innovative approach to engaging employees with the brand has helped contribute to Creditsafe appearing in the “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the third year running.  Events such as these have driven impressive growth and tangible productivity gains. Global headcount grew from 700 in 2012 to 800 by the end of 2013 and operating profits grew from €13.7 million to €17.7 million in the same period.

Cato Syversen commented: “The Creditsafe Group goes from strength to strength: we have built on our international network successfully over the past 12 months with new operations in the US and Italy, which are both doing extremely well.  We wanted to bring our global team together for a fun event that emphasises our competitive yet inclusive culture, while raising significant funds for a worthwhile charity.

“Training for boxing is similar to working in sales; it requires personal drive, commitment, discipline and endurance, while generating a huge sense of achievement when a deal is secured.  Everyone involved in the event has worked extremely hard and enjoyed the process thoroughly – and as a by-product we have all lost about a stone in weight each.”

The event will be streamed live via Creditsafe’s IT network to the company’s 800 employees in its 11 global offices.
