ABA Announces New Deposit Compliance Training and Certificate

WASHINGTON — The American Bankers Association (ABA) announced the addition of its new online training curriculum focused on deposit compliance, an 11-course online series available to both members and non-members. The courses can be taken together as a complete curriculum to earn the new ABA Certificate in Deposit Compliance or individually.

Bankers Kick Off ‘Take Your Lawmaker to Work Week’

EMEA syndicated Real Estate finance loan volumes for H1 2015 highest since H1 2008

The volume of EMEA syndicated real estate finance loans totalled EUR27.6 billion (75 deals) in H1 2015 – the highest first half volume since 2008, which had seen EUR23.8 billion (89 deals) – according to the second post-crisis set of league tables for syndicated commercial real estate (CRE) lending across EMEA, released by Dealogic. The deal count was 5% to 6% higher than in H1 2014.

ABA Survey: Regulatory Burden Limiting Bank Products and Services

WASHINGTON — Growing regulatory compliance burdens have led nearly half of all banks to reduce their offerings of financial products and services, according to the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) 2015 Survey of Bank Compliance Officers. A combined 46.3 percent of respondents said their bank had cut offerings for loan accounts, deposit accounts, or other services because of regulatory effects.

A third of finance professionals feel pressured to compromise ethical standards

Nearly a third of UK-based finance professionals feel under pressure to compromise their ethical standards, according to a report released today by the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA). The third annual ‘Managing Responsible Business’ report, which polled 2,498  professionals across the world, found that the proportion of UK-based workers reporting such pressure jumped from 18% in 2012 to 30% in 2015. Worryingly, a fifth (21%) of respondents agreed those who report concerns about unethical behaviour are seen as troublemakers by management.
